Cyan and Collis Ta’eed co-founded Envato, a leading online marketplace for creative assets, and one of Australia’s most successful bootstrapped private companies. In 2024, Collis and Cyan exited their business in an acquisition by Shutterstock.

Inspired by their Baha’i faith, Cyan and Collis established the Bright Moon Trust in 2017 to provide early-stage philanthropic funding for First Nations social change agents across Northern Australia.

Bright Moon Trust supports First Nations communities to take agency over their own advancement. They do this by supporting individuals in the community, who want to make positive change, and are taking initiative to do so, starting at the grassroots. The Trust provides early-stage seed funding to these initiators to help advance the community towards its vision for the future. Advocating for taking ‘learning’ and ‘capacity building’ approaches to social change, they structure their grants around these methodologies.

We take some steps, we reflect and learn from our actions, and then we do it again. Little by little, step by step, we can contribute to our community’s progress.”
